A Note To Our Listeners

This is going to be a different kind of episode for us at Hey Other Parents. On this episode we will be talking about some of our experiences with family planning. Some of these topics that we are discussing today can be triggering for some of our audience. Some of these topics may be triggering for us as well.

We are going to try our best to speak from our experiences in an effort to normalize the conversation around things such as:

• difficulty in getting pregnant
• high risk pregnancies
• adoption
• miscarriage and other hardships
• pressure of having kids or having more kids
• rainbow babies
• tough choices when mother and baby are at risk
• breast feeding pressures
• Epidural complications
• VSD (heart complications)
• How to support friends and family through distress

While there are a number of positive areas of today’s show, we want to be upfront with you at the top of the show because like us, each of us has our own experiences and works through difficulty and hard times in our own ways. In this episode more than ever, it’s the three of us and all of you.

Expectations of Expecting (Family Planning &

This week on Hey Other Parents we are talking all about how many kids you planned for in your family. We discuss the pressures that go along with being a couple, family planning, original ideas of having kids in the backseat of the little Toy Car in board game life and so much more. Did you plan for a certain number of kids, how did you know when you were done? We discuss complications, moments of hardship, moments of happiness and how to support one another because these important conversations are easier when you have some friends to share it with. Let's Get Organized!

Playdates I (Unstructured + Structured Play)

This week it’s all about playdates. One of our listeners asks the question about how to help your kids when they are more reserved during recess time? Some kids can be more reserved and others can try to lead. Can we help equip our kids for unstructured playtime? 

What happens when your best friend moves, can you find a more subtle way to get contact information from your classmates, are all cul-de-sacs reminiscent of the Sandlot? The Internet Safety Episode

This week we sit down to talk about when kids have access to the internet and apps. This is a big topic so this episode is a little bit longer. We hope that this provides some insight for you at home. We of course always value your input so please contact us at the show if you have anything that we might have missed, an opinion of our thoughts, or anything else for us to all think about.

In the beginning of the episode we discuss listener feedback about the Green Light Card for international travel. We always welcome this type of tip. This is particular about having your child travel to Europe and one way to track their spending and avoid international fees.

It’s been a long road from AOL instant messenger to Snap Chat. We discuss trying to help kids work through mistakes and the overwhelming group dynamics of group chats and more. When should you feel the need to monitor, when should you feel ok with backing off? What are some of the most important things that we feel about your child’s accounts and conversations that go in tandem. Orange Cream Roulette (Valentine’s Day)
